Planting Seeds Of Hope and Growing a School

From a very young age God gave Angela the gift to teach and encourage.  When she married, Angela was able to take her passion for teaching anywhere the Marine Corps sent her husband, so she had experiences teaching all over the world, including Africa and Japan.

While living in Nigeria in 2007 and 2008, Angela enrolled her two-year-old daughter in a local preschool.  The owner of the school and Angela spent many hours integrating western education ideology into the curriculum.
In 2018, after Angela’s husband retired from the Marine Corps, she was contacted by the school in Nigeria through social media.  She was asked to return to celebrate their 10-year anniversary and take part in leading a continuing education conference for the teachers.
Angela’s third trip in 2019 was when she was introduced to several teachers from Northern Nigeria.  The teachers shared the difficult situations in which they were teaching and Angela’s focus immediately turned to the most vulnerable children of the Internally Displaced Person’s camps in Northern Nigeria.
She has since joined her friend David in educating children who have been left as orphans and helping provide the basic needs for women are who are widowed due to the terrorist group Boko Haram’s ongoing violent attacks.  Over 600,000 people are living in overpopulated camps, and education is at the bottom of the government’s priority list.  There are 32 official government-managed camps and about 200 unofficial settlements.  Out of all these camps, only 4 schools for children are known to exist.
We are currently providing basic education to 400 children and trade classes for 200+ widows.  Will you help us take steps toward fighting poverty and providing education for hundreds more?  Join us in helping build School of Hope in 2021!

Ministry Focus

According to the UN over 10.5 million school aged children are out of school. Angela’s eyes were opened to a need, and with the assistance of her friends living in Nigeria, they have started building schools.  The schools bring hope to a communities filled with people whose lives have been shattered by terrorism. The schools become the gathering place for the community, especially for the orphans and widows. The school grounds are utilized for children’s education by day, and at night, they are available for trade classes and as a venue for community meetings. HOPE also helps provide emergency basic needs such as food, hygiene supplies, and blankets for those who are orphaned and widowed in the community.

When you give to HOPE, you are fighting oppression and persecution for this generation and the generations to come. You may be purchasing schools supplies for a child, building a classroom that creates a safe environment for children to thrive in, or possibly even buying a blanket for a child who has lost his/her entire family. No matter how much you give, you are not just helping one child gain an education, you are giving hope of a brighter tomorrow to an entire community.
