At 37 years old I came to the end of myself and came home to Jesus. I found myself incarcerated for drug possession, homeless, alone, and pregnant with no one to turn to. In my jail cell, fearing the worst possible outcome I started a beautiful journey with the Lord that has led me into ministry. As I walked closer to the Lord and sought recovery I found myself in a place to help other women walking out of crisis. Isaiah 61:3 says, "to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." I am blessed to be able to use the worst parts of my story to lift other women and help them find the beauty in theirs. I am 40 now and am amazed at the work God has done and continues to do daily. While my experiences help others, helping them brings me healing as well. A beautiful journey.
I volunteer with Living Alternatives, a non-profit maternity ministry in East Texas. Living Alternatives has served the area for over 40 years growing and branching out alongside the needs of the community. Providing as many resources and programs to meet those needs as possible; Living Alternatives includes a maternity home and aftercare program, a Pregnancy Resource Center (Axia) with numerous programs and services, and a mobile PRC providing services and resources to smaller underserved communities in the area. I serve in the Aftercare program and teach the women at Fatherheart, I also help with technical training and administrative roles on the mobile unit, and wherever else I may be needed.
